NDF to Recruit 1,500 New Members Nationwide in March 2025

WINDHOEK: The Namibian Defence Force (NDF) is set to bolster its ranks by recruiting 1,500 new members across the country’s 14 regions, scheduled to commence in March 2025. This recruitment drive, managed by the NDF Recruitment Planning Committee, aims to enhance the force’s operational capacity. Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Kamwi, the Recruitment Officer for the Kavango East Region, disclosed these plans during a recent meeting with Kavango East Region Governor Bonny Wakudumo.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Kamwi elaborated on the recruitment process, stating that applications would be accepted from November 1 to November 15, 2024. Out of 3,000 shortlisted candidates, only 1,500 will be selected to join the NDF. These recruits will undergo a nine-month basic training program at the NDF training establishment in Okahandja during the 2024/25 financial year. The allocation of new positions is distributed, with Khomas Region receiving 288 slots, Ohangwena 240, Omusati 240, and 192 positions
each for the remaining 11 regions. Additionally, 120 positions are reserved for marginalized communities.

The Recruitment Planning Committee, in collaboration with regional and constituency councillors, is tasked with ensuring a transparent and fair recruitment process. Candidates must be Namibian citizens aged between 18 and 25 years. Prospective recruits are required to have completed Grade 12 or hold an equivalent certificate with a minimum of 25 points across five subjects, including an E symbol in English. Selected candidates must be prepared to undergo a medical examination, a basic general knowledge test, and a fitness test.
