Ndagani Chief Orders Removal of Illegal Structures from Road Reserves

NDAGANI, KENYA – Ndagani Karingani area Chief Charles Njagi has issued a stern warning to traders, urging them to dismantle unauthorized structures erected along road reserves. He emphasized the structures’ threat to public safety and security.

According to Kenya News Agency, speaking from his office in Ndagani, vendors have been repeatedly warned about constructing stalls on road reserves. He stated that if traders fail to comply with the order to vacate, the authorities will resort to forcibly removing these structures, potentially leading to losses for the traders. Njagi highlighted the dangers posed by these stalls, including road blockages and increased risk of accidents involving motorists. He also pointed out that the kiosks have become hiding spots for criminals, particularly those involved in nighttime kidnappings.

The Chief has cautioned traders to remove their properties promptly in anticipation of an official demolition process. He underscored the importance of clearing the area, noting that the demolitions will be thorough and leave nothing behind. “We will not spare anything during the demolitions, so I am advising traders to remove their items in advance,” he said.

Furthermore, Njagi advised traders on the legal requirements for operating businesses. He emphasized the necessity of acquiring licenses before setting up kiosks, declaring that unlicensed business activities will not be tolerated in the area.
