Ncamagoro Community Celebrates Inauguration of New Sports Facility

Ncamagoro: Community members of Ncamagoro village in the Ncamagoro Constituency of Kavango West have embraced the construction of a new basic sports facility, stating it will keep the youth engaged. The project was officially inaugurated on Wednesday by Kavango West Governor Verna Sinimbo.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Johanna Iirunga, a resident of Ncamagoro, expressed that the facility will help change attitudes toward sports and provide young people with positive alternatives. She thanked the government for the initiative, highlighting its potential to shift mindsets regarding the benefits of sports within the village. Iirunga also noted that the inclusion of a borehole in the project will alleviate the local water shortage, benefiting community members by providing a much-needed water source.

Ncam-City Football Club coach Simon Hamutenya stated that the facility fulfills a long-standing need for a permanent playing field. He expressed gratitude to the government for the initiative, emphasizing that it will eliminate the necessity for the community to book or travel to other areas to use sports fields for hosting games. Hamutenya also urged authorities to improve road access to the facility, pointing out that the current sandy roads pose challenges, particularly for smaller vehicles.

Tjatama Netball Club coach Klementine Kalimbwe highlighted the role of sports in building discipline and unity. She stated that youth involvement in sports diverts energy towards positive activities and fosters teamwork. Kalimbwe encouraged parents to support their children's talents, acknowledging that while not every child may excel academically, some possess talents in sports that could bring positive changes to their families.
