Windhoek: The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has announced the appointment of Menesia Muinjo as its new Director General, effective April 1, 2026. Muinjo will succeed Stanley Similo, the outgoing Director General, for a five-year term.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a media statement from the NBC board confirmed Muinjo's new role. Currently serving as the Chief of News and Programming at NBC, Muinjo's leadership skills and extensive experience in the industry were highlighted as key factors for her appointment. Board Chairperson Lazarus Jacobs expressed full confidence in her capabilities, citing her strategic insight and industry experience.
Jacobs further noted that Muinjo's appointment is expected to enhance NBC's ability to fulfill its mandate. He emphasized that her leadership will be instrumental in delivering on the broadcaster's Integrated Strategic Business Plan and its role as Namibia's national public broadcaster. Muinjo has been credited with significantly shaping NBC's news and programming while also contributing to institutional development and stakeholder engagement.
Her leadership is anticipated to drive improvements in the broadcaster's operational efficiency, revenue generation, and audience engagement across multiple platforms. This appointment comes as the broadcaster adapts to a rapidly changing media landscape characterized by digital transformation and evolving audience consumption patterns.
