Nayala Educators Called to Instill Cultural Roots in Students

Nayala: Education stakeholders in the province of Nayala, during the celebration of the traditional day, invited teachers to instill cultural and traditional values in students, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the head of the basic education district, Augustin Dakio, emphasized the importance of this initiative by urging educators to use the day as an opportunity to reconnect with their cultural roots. Dakio highlighted that this connection is essential to maintain the authenticity of Burkinabe culture.

Thomas Garan©, the provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education of Nayala, stressed the necessity of embedding a love for local cultures and traditions in young students. He noted that such an approach would foster social cohesion and better integration of traditional practices within the education system.

The event, organized by various schools in the city of Toma, was part of the patriotic commitment days celebration. Students and teachers participated by donning traditional attire such as k´k´ dunda and Faso danfani, adding a vibrant touch to the festivities.

The celebration also featured traditional dances like the "dommonna," along with the tasting of local culinary delights such as "Zaman¨," which are millet-based cakes, emphasizing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
