Nayala: Members of the Bemba Agricultural Professionals Union (UPPA-Bemba) launched the 2025-2026 wet season on Thursday in Toma at the To© Toudala field, in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture and the High Commissioner of the province. The launch ceremony was held under the theme: 'Innovation and resilience for sustainable agriculture in Burkina Faso'.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Aristide Zonou, emphasized the importance of collaboration between authorities and producers to achieve food security objectives. He stated that the province expects to produce approximately 144,000 tonnes of grain, 1,571 litres of milk, and other essential products during this wet season. Mr. Zonou also mentioned the availability of 660 tonnes of seeds to support farmers.
UPPA-Bemba President Yaya Par© highlighted the need for every producer to become an agricultural professional by using appropriate techniques to enhance yields. He urged farmers to consider producing not only for personal consumption but also to contribute to feeding the whole of Burkina Faso.
UPPA-Bemba Secretary General Ali Tiguiane Ki outlined the agricultural techniques to be adopted and expressed the union's commitment to its 2,506 members. Mr. Ki announced plans to sow 416 hectares this season and to train young people on new production techniques.
The ceremony's patron, representing SOS Sahel, acknowledged the efforts made to support farmers in the province, while reaffirming the organization's commitment to assisting producers. The High Commissioner of the province, Honor© Fr©d©ric Par©, called for unity and collective commitment to ensure the success of this agricultural campaign. He officially declared the 2025-2026 rainy season open, wishing for lasting prosperity and food security for the Nayala province.
