NATO Military Chair Advocates for Unrestricted Use of Supplied Weapons by Ukraine

PRAGUE — NATO Military Committee Chair Rob Bauer stated on Saturday that, from a military standpoint, Ukraine should not face restrictions in utilizing the weapons delivered by its Western allies.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Bauer made the remarks following a meeting of the NATO Military Committee in Prague. He emphasized that removing limitations on Ukraine’s use of the supplied arms would be a logical step for military operations. However, Bauer acknowledged that the countries providing these weapons maintain the right to impose restrictions on their use, and a political debate on the issue continues.

Discussions about restrictions are ongoing at various levels across NATO member states. Italy has imposed conditions on the weapons it sends to Ukraine, while countries like the Czech Republic, Sweden, and the Netherlands have opted not to place any restrictions.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the provision of long-range weapons to Ukraine could bring Western nations closer to direct involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Putin indicated that Russia would respond with “appropriate decisions” to address these new threats.

Western media reports indicate that Ukraine has been appealing to its allies for permission to use missiles, including long-range ones, to strike deeper into Russian territory.
