Sourou: The provincial director of water and forests of Sourou, Met©o Malo, has called on the local population to actively participate in the upcoming 7th edition of the National Tree Day (JNA), which will be inaugurated on June 21, 2025, in Manga.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Met©o Malo convened a meeting on May 19, 2025, with five environmental associations, including groups such as the dozos, traditional practitioners, the Djiguitougou, the green brigade, and the Nonglem association. The objective of this gathering was to disseminate information regarding the upcoming JNA and encourage these organizations to mobilize the community for the event.
Lieutenant-Colonel Met©o Malo emphasized the importance of these discussions in preparing the associations to become conduits for community engagement in combating deforestation. The goal is to inspire widespread participation in planting beneficial plants as part of the national reforestation campaign.
Adama Ou©draogo, representing the Association of Traditional Practitioners, expressed his satisfaction with the dialogue and committed to raising awareness among the public. The initiative aims to involve citizens in environmental preservation efforts.
The launch of the seventh edition of the JNA is scheduled for June 21, 2025, in Manga and will be succeeded by a reforestation campaign across the country.
