Cunene: At least 40,743 litres of fuel, destined for illegal sale in the Republic of Namibia, were seized in the first quarter of this year by the National Police in the southern Cunene Province.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the information was provided by Sanuel Casaco, a specialist from the institutional communication and press department of the National Police in Cunene. Casaco revealed that 31,653 litres of petrol and 14,090 litres of diesel were confiscated. This figure is 3,672 litres less compared to the same period in 2024.
Casaco further mentioned that the fuel was seized from 73 cases of smuggling oil products, all of which were resolved, leading to the arrest of 25 individuals. The province of Cunene shares a significant border with the Republic of Namibia, including 340 kilometres of land border and 120 kilometres of river border.
