National Police Dismantle Alleged Fraud Network in Cabinda

Cabinda: An alleged fraud network was dismantled on Sunday by the National Police in Cabinda province, ANGOP learned on Tuesday. The group included 10 individuals between the ages of 18 and 27, and the network used fake social media profiles promising to sell land and provide jobs in public and private institutions to extort money from citizens.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the suspects also posed as intermediaries for the sale and rental of homes, foreign currency transactions, and other illicit practices. The fraudulent activities reportedly targeted unsuspecting citizens, exploiting their need for land, jobs, and housing.

In a statement sent to ANGOP in Cabinda on Tuesday, the police reported that six motorcycles, 11 digital cell phones, and an air conditioning unit were found in the suspects’ possession. These items were believed to be acquired or used in the course of their fraudulent operations. The police are continuing their investigations to determine the full extent of the network’s activities and any additional individuals involved.
