National Gun Owners Association of Kenya Hosts Ladies-Only Shooting Competition to Fundraise for Breast Cancer

Kiambu County, Kenya—The National Gun Owners Association of Kenya (NGAO) hosted a women-only shooting competition over the weekend to raise funds for breast cancer patients. The event, called “The Pink Target,” took place at the NGAO shooting range in Kirigiti, Kiambu County.

According to Kenya News Agency, NGAO Chairlady and Youth Representative, the event aimed to unite women and other participants from various sectors including media, politics, disciplined forces, civilians, and corporations to bring attention to the challenges faced by individuals with breast cancer.

Munyi emphasized the importance of collective efforts to tackle the challenges related to breast cancer. “We are grateful to the all-ladies organizing committee that made the event possible and to all the participants; your support has contributed to the success of the event and helped the Pink Target Ladies Guild raise crucial funds to support breast cancer intervention programs,” said Munyi. The competition included several shooting categories, such as bullseye shooting with 9mm pistols, pistol carbines, and shotguns.

Magdalene Mutindi, a breast cancer survivor in attendance, expressed her appreciation for the event. She highlighted the significant financial burden of cancer treatment, especially for those without insurance. “I have struggled with cancer since March 2020, and I know firsthand just how expensive cancer treatment is. I am therefore excited to see charity events like this one that will offer extensive financial assistance to other people dealing with the condition,” said Mutindi.

The Pink Target Guild invited additional sponsors to join future initiatives, suggesting contributions through raffles and other fundraising activities to further benefit those in need.
