National Dialogue Advances in Ethiopia with Successful Agenda Setting in Regions and Cities

HAWASSA CITY — The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) has reported successful agenda-setting processes across various regions and city administrations in Ethiopia, aiming to address longstanding national issues through inclusive and transparent dialogue. The consultation process, which began today in Sidama Region’s Hawassa city, involves discussions on key national challenges and aims to foster a prosperous future for the country.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the national dialogue forum marks a crucial chapter for Ethiopia, focusing on resolving persistent challenges through sustained dialogue. He emphasized the importance of addressing conflicts and challenges constructively. Ambassador Dirir highlighted the success of the agenda-setting processes conducted so far in various parts of the country.



Further statements were made by ENDC Commissioner Melaku Woldemariam, who expressed gratitude towards participants of the dialogue and noted the ongoing tradition of consultation and dialogue in Ethiopia. He stressed the significance of this forum in discussing vital national issues. Additionally, Commissioner Ambaye Ogato pointed out the need for a shift from mere political discussions to substantive consultations that unite diverse views and contribute to national development.



The event in Hawassa has drawn approximately 1,800 representatives from 45 districts, along with delegates from various political parties, governmental and non-governmental institutions, and noted regional personalities. These participants are engaging in the agenda selection process under oath, reflecting the serious commitment to this national endeavor.



The ENDC, established by a proclamation in 2021, has been actively fulfilling its mandate to facilitate national dialogue aimed at resolving Ethiopia’s longstanding grievances and challenges, thus contributing to the nation’s development.
