OUAGADOUGOU – The National Development Service (SND) of Burkina Faso commemorated its 40th anniversary on Friday by acknowledging the support of its various partners over the decades. These collaborations have been crucial in implementing developmental policies and initiatives that have positively impacted thousands of Burkinabè.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General of SND and intendant colonel-major, the organization has developed robust partnerships particularly with the Burkinabè youth, transforming them into a dynamic force for national development. “Today we are celebrating a collective journey marked by challenges met with our various partners,” Bénao stated, emphasizing the successful synergy between the SND and its partners that has led to significant social and economic advancements in the country.
The SND’s anniversary event also served as a platform for expressing gratitude towards institutional partners, NGOs, and corporations that have played a part in the SND’s projects. Bénao highlighted the importance of collective will alongside resources in driving development. He also urged continued collaboration for achieving inclusive and responsible development in Burkina Faso. As part of the celebration, the SND awarded certificates to former collaborators and various partners in recognition of their contributions.
The SND, established on July 18, 1984, is a mandatory national service focused on civic engagement and socio-economic development in Burkina Faso. It aims to engage young people in national development activities, providing them with basic professional training, particularly those from rural backgrounds or early school dropouts. Furthermore, the SND fosters a spirit of initiative and patriotism among youth, instilling values such as tolerance and solidarity.
