National Days of Patriotic Commitment Fulfill Promises, Reports Burkina Faso Government

OUAGADOUGOU: The National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, held from October 2 to 16, 2024, have been deemed a success by the Burkina Faso government. Government spokesperson Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo announced the positive outcome following a comprehensive review session with members of the government at the residence of Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem of Tambèla. According to Burkina Information Agency, Ouédraogo expressed that the event provided an opportunity to evaluate the activities undertaken as part of the patriotic surge and to celebrate the vision of Captain Thomas Sankara. The working session included briefings from various ministerial departments to the head of government, confirming that the objectives of the event were met. Ouédraogo noted a strong sense of support and engagement from all levels, including ministerial departments, local constituencies, and civil society. He was joined by several ministers, such as Émile Zerbo of Administration, Roger Baro of the Environment, Roland Somda of Sports, and Stella Eldine Kabré, Minister Delegate in charge of Cooperation, to assess the event's impact. The immediate evaluation was described as satisfactory, and the Prime Minister has called for a comprehensive assessment along with recommendations to enhance future celebrations. The National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation were established by a decree in November 2023 and are celebrated on March 26 and October 2, spanning over two weeks.
