National Council Reconvenes to Deliberate Key Legislation and Reports

WINDHOEK — The National Council of Namibia resumed its activities on Monday, entering the thirteenth session with a focus on several critical bills forwarded by the National Assembly, including legislative proposals on electoral processes, marriage, property management, and road fund administration. The session is scheduled to span two weeks, during which the council will also review extensive reports from various committees.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the session will not only address bills from the National Assembly but will also consider eight reports from the National Council Standing Committees and two reports from inter-parliamentary clusters. Muha emphasized the council’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and dedication in tackling the nation’s most pressing issues, which include economic growth, social justice, and environmental sustainability.

During his opening remarks, Muha reminded the council members of their responsibility to address both national and regional concerns through their legislative review and to ensure that the legislation reflects the needs and aspirations of all Namibians. He also encouraged citizens to participate in the democratic process by registering to vote for the upcoming national elections in November, highlighting the importance of active civic engagement.
