National Construction Authority Accredits Hundreds of Youthful Artisans in South Mugirango

South Mugirango: Hundreds of youthful artisans in various trades have been accredited by the National Construction Authority (NCA), empowering them to be considered for public works engagements. Presiding over the accreditation ceremony at Nduru High School in South Mugirango constituency after a brief orientation, Kisii Women Representative, Dorice Aburi, decried the suffering artisans underwent after completing their courses. She observed despite the training, the artisans could not qualify for government jobs for lack of certification from NCA.

According to Kenya News Agency, Aburi urged the government to offer jobs to the accredited artisans whenever Affordable Housing projects were undertaken in their areas. Milgor Nancy, an assistant in training and capacity building in the NCA, commended the artisans for the overwhelming turnout, courtesy of mobilization by the county Women Representative. The accreditation, she remarked, was through collaboration with stakeholders and appreciated the site supervisors and artisans' willingness to present themselves for the exercise.

Yuvenalis Oirere, a tailor, and Nicholas Anyona, an electrician, narrated the hardships that prevented most of them from obtaining the accreditation certificate. They condemned violence often caused when youths took to the streets to demand their rights and suggested the youths keep off destructive protests and instead go for the accreditation certificates for self-advancement.
