Luanda: The executive director of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), Marilia Poças, urged the private sector to participate in the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (ENIF) during a discussion at the Angola International Fair (FILDA 2026) in Icolo e Bengo. According to Angola Press News Agency, Poças highlighted the potential benefits for the private sector, including access to new clients and markets. She discussed the importance of increasing access points such as banking and payment agents, developing digital solutions, and introducing new financial services. These measures aim to improve sales through digital payments and reduce the costs associated with handling cash. Poças emphasized the need to support the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and improve credit risk assessment, which would strengthen value chains. The ENIF aims to achieve a banking inclusion rate of 36% by 2027, requiring the integration of approximately 1.5 million new customers into the banking system. To rea ch a 65% financial inclusion rate, the strategy targets approximately 13.37 million users of transactional accounts, including both electronic and bank money. The roundtable, organized by the BNA, included representatives from the National Institute for Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the National Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society (INFOSI), and the National Institute for Evaluation and Development of Education (INADE). Angola's financial inclusion rate reached 51.7% at the end of the first quarter of this year, moving closer to the government's 65% target by 2027. The banking inclusion rate was 32%, covering approximately 5.7 million citizens. The goal for next year is to reach a 36% banking inclusion rate, equating to around eight million people with bank accounts.
