Nation Earns Close to 4 Billion USD from Export


JIGJIGA — Ethiopia earned some 3.8 billion USD from exports in the Ethiopian fiscal year 2016, according to the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration. Performance evaluation of the 2016 Ethiopian fiscal year and the plan for the current year are underway in Jigjiga, Somali region.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the revenue has shown a 4.57 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Of the total income earned, agriculture takes the lead with 76.43 percent, followed by manufacturing, mining, electric power, and other sectors.



The minister pointed out the need for integration to improve the competitiveness of exporters and to succeed in international trade.
