Narok county: In a significant step towards improving early education, Narok County has rolled out new Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classrooms across multiple wards. Governor Patrick Ntutu, during his recent four-day tour in Emurrua Dikirr, inaugurated these facilities in Kapsasian and Mogondo Wards, aiming to uplift the learning standards for the youngest of students.
According to Kenya News Agency, the new classrooms were commissioned by Governor Ntutu who emphasized the county’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure. The initiative targets pre-primary learners who previously faced challenges studying in semi-permanent structures. The governor pointed out that the new, more robust ECDE classrooms would provide a safer and more conducive learning environment, which is crucial for the cognitive development of young children.
During his tour, Governor Ntutu highlighted the importance of the new facilities in addressing the issue of overcrowding in schools, a growing concern due t
o the increasing population. “By expanding classroom capacity, the county ensures that more children have access to early education, fostering their cognitive development in a better-equipped learning space,” he stated. The new classrooms are part of an effort to ensure that every child in Narok County has access to quality education, regardless of their location.
The facilities commissioned include Ketendeita, Kibailuk, Kapsaos, Kemeliet, and Kabuson Central ECDE centers in Mogondo Ward. In Kapsasian Ward, new classrooms were opened in schools such as Koibeyot, Chebulu, Lelagoin, Kimolel, Cherokiyet, and Naisukut. These improvements, funded by the 2022/2023 financial year budget, mark the successful completion of these critical educational infrastructure projects.
Further supporting the initiative, local leaders such as Johanna Ngeno, the area Member of Parliament, and Jackson Ngok, Kapsasian Ward Member of County Assembly, praised the efforts. Ngok specifically noted that these new classrooms represent a
significant upgrade from the previous iron sheet structures.
With these developments, Narok County aims to not only enhance the learning experience for children but also encourage regular school attendance by providing closer and better-quality educational facilities.
