Nanoro: The PDS Leads the Way During the Tax Exemplarity Day

Nanoro: As part of the National Day of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, the Nanoro town hall organized a day dedicated to fiscal exemplarity on Tuesday, March 31. By being the first to pay his residence tax, the President of the Special Delegation (PDS), Nourou Guiguemd©, set the tone, inviting his constituents to do the same for national development.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, spearheaded by the highest authorities in Burkina Faso, aims to strengthen citizens’ tax awareness. For Mr. Guiguemd©, this day is a crucial opportunity to educate the population about the importance of local taxes, such as the residence tax, property tax, and taxes on motor vehicles and weapons. “I invite the people to come and pay their taxes, because it is thanks to these resources that the State can finance the construction of hospitals, schools and other infrastructure essential to the well-being of all,” said the PDS.

On the technical services side, the day’s results are encouraging. The tax collector and acting director of the departmental center, Domm¨zao Somda, expressed his satisfaction with the large turnout of department heads, women, and individuals who came to fulfill their obligations. He took the opportunity to launch a general mobilization appeal: “After the town hall, we will be at the tax office to receive taxpayers. I invite everyone to join this movement, because taxation is a duty that applies to every citizen without exception.”

Awareness campaigns appear to be bearing fruit among the community’s key stakeholders. Victor B. Bayili, secretary of the Nanoro merchants’ association, made a point of fulfilling his tax obligations as soon as the day began. For him, contributing to the public treasury is an act of sovereignty. “It is with our taxes that the government builds dams, schools, and stadiums. I call on my fellow business owners to follow suit in support of the independence and full development of our nation.”
