Nandiala Town Hall Hosts Key Consultation on Social Cohesion and Land Security

Nandiala: The multipurpose room of the Nandiala town hall in the Centre-Ouest region hosted a municipal consultation framework on Tuesday, May 13, focusing on social cohesion, land security, and sanitation for local development, noted the AIB. Initiated by the special delegation of the commune, the meeting brought together various local actors, including village chiefs, presidents of Village Development Councils (CVD), representatives of associations, decentralized State services, and development partners.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the primary objective of this consultation framework was to establish a platform for dialogue and exchange among stakeholders on these critical issues. It also aimed to provide a report on the actions carried out by the special delegation and gather proposals and suggestions from the population to guide the future decisions of the municipal council.

Caroline Bassono, head of the Terroirs project for an NGO active in the municipality, emphasized the importance of this initiative. She highlighted the appropriateness of supporting the municipality, given the theme of the consultation framework, which focuses on land security and social cohesion. Bassono stressed the necessity for active involvement of the population in development projects to maximize their benefits and potentially attract additional funding.

Aminata Diallo, president of the Nandiala special municipal delegation, expressed her satisfaction at the conclusion of the meeting. She extended her gratitude to the NITIDAE partners, acknowledging their commitment and dedication on the ground. Plans are in place to organize such meetings at least twice a year to maintain ongoing dialogue with the population.

NITIDAE project manager Moussa Bingbour© noted that the day of dialogue in Nandiala strengthened ties among various stakeholders and fostered a renewed commitment to social cohesion and land security, which are essential for sustainable local development. He added that the proposals gathered should guide future municipal actions, aligning them with the needs and aspirations of the population.

Caroline Bassono reassured that current activities would continue, particularly the development of market gardening sites and the integration of new intervention villages in the coming months.

As a reminder, NITIDAE is the NGO implementing the project in consortium with APAD Sangui©, CERDE, and INADES Formation. This project, funded by the European Union with 5 million euros for a period from 2024 to 2027, is being implemented in nine villages in the provinces of Sangui© and Boukiemd©.
