Nandi Ndaitwah Pays Tribute to Pohamba on 90th Birthday

Windhoek: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has paid tribute to former President Hifikepunye Pohamba, who turned 90 on Monday, describing him as a ‘humble revolutionary and inspirational leader whose legacy continues to guide Namibia.’

According to Namibia Press Agency, Nandi-Ndaitwah, in her congratulatory message shared by the Presidency, highlighted Pohamba’s contribution to Namibia’s liberation struggle and his service during and after his presidency. She noted that Pohamba’s heroic exploits in the pursuit of the liberation of Namibia and her people are etched in the fabric of the country’s democracy. Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized the revolutionary path Pohamba walked and his footprints, which remain a source of inspiration to all Namibians.

Nandi-Ndaitwah further highlighted Pohamba’s role in strengthening institutions, promoting unity, and consolidating peace and stability during his presidency. She expressed gratitude for Pohamba’s wisdom, humility, and foresight, which continue to guide Namibia on the path of peace and stability. Nandi-Ndaitwah said, “As Namibians, we owe a great deal of gratitude to President Pohamba’s wisdom, humility, and foresight, which continue to guide us on the path of peace and stability.”

As Pohamba celebrates the milestone of turning 90, Nandi-Ndaitwah joined the Namibian people in wishing him good personal health and the wisdom to continue inspiring both young and old. She encouraged Namibians to emulate his exemplary leadership and follow in his heroic footsteps.

Pohamba served as Namibia’s second president from 2005 to 2015, succeeding Founding President Sam Nujoma. He was awarded the prestigious Mo Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership in 2015 for his role in promoting democracy and good governance.
