DORDABIS — The Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower) has contributed a donation valued at N$70,000 to Dordabis Primary School, enhancing the learning environment for over 30,000 students with essential educational materials and equipment. This initiative underscores the corporation’s commitment to supporting educational development in rural areas of Namibia.
According to Namibia Press Agency, NamPower’s marketing officer, the donation includes notebooks, stationary items, photocopy cartridges, computers, and a freezer. During the handover ceremony on Monday, Shifotoka highlighted the significance of these contributions, stating that for many students, especially in rural areas, basic educational tools like notebooks and pens are a privilege rather than a given. “Education is a fundamental right; having the right tools can make all the difference,” she remarked, emphasizing the private sector’s role in supporting government efforts to meet educational needs.
Erikkson Shilemba, Senior Education Officer at the Khomas Teachers’ Resource Centre, also spoke at the event, noting the profound impact these resources will have on the students and the wider community. He praised NamPower’s support as crucial for providing high-quality education and achieving the goals of education, which include access, equity, quality, and democratic participation.
Dordabis Primary School’s principal, Rennellie Guriras, gratefully received the donation, acknowledging the significant difference it will make in the lives of the learners. “Dordabis Primary School is truly humbled by your commitment, especially to a rural school such as ours. We promise to take care of the donation and use it responsibly,” Guriras said, reflecting on the importance of community partnership and corporate social responsibility in enhancing educational opportunities.
