Nampa and Napwu Reach Agreement on Salary Increase for 2024/25


Windhoek—The Namibia Press Agency (Nampa) and the Namibia Public Workers Union (Napwu) have finalized their salary and benefits negotiations for the 2024/25 financial year, resulting in a 5 percent increase across several compensation categories for their staff.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the new agreement includes a 5 percent salary increase for employees within the Patterson Grades A-C5, as well as identical increases for housing and transport allowances. This agreement, effective from April 1, 2024, represents a significant commitment to the agency’s staff, aiming to improve their overall quality of life. “These adjustments not only acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our staff, but also reinforce our commitment to improving their quality of life,” Chata expressed in a staff meeting on Tuesday. He commended the union representatives and the negotiating team for their professionalism and collaborative spirit throughout the negotiation process.



Chata emphasized the positive, respectful negotiations, highlighting the strong relationship between management and the union. “The respectful and cooperative atmosphere in which these discussions were conducted is a testament to the strong relationship between management and the union,” he said, adding that the new agreement is “not just a conclusion, but a continuation of our joint efforts to create a workplace where fairness, respect, and mutual understanding prevail. Together, we will continue to work towards our shared goals, ensuring that our organisation remains a place where everyone feels valued and supported.”
