Namibian President Mbumba Attends Hamburg Sustainability Conference

HAMBURG—Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba traveled to Germany to attend the Hamburg Sustainability Conference, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, focusing on global financial reforms and sustainable development.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the conference, a collaboration between the German government, the United Nations Development Programme, the Michael Otto Foundation, and the City of Hamburg, addresses key themes such as reshaping the international financial architecture, unleashing investment for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and leveraging transformation. This meeting follows a recent summit co-chaired by President Mbumba and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, aimed at advancing these critical global issues.

On the sidelines of the conference, President Mbumba is set to engage in discussions with Chancellor Scholz and has also been invited for bilateral talks in Berlin with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. These talks are anticipated to further diplomatic and economic relations between Namibia and Germany, particularly in areas such as green hydrogen, agribusiness, and logistics, which are pivotal to Namibia's development strategy.

The Hamburg conference serves as a platform for Namibia to strengthen its international partnerships and enhance its role in sustainable economic development.
