Namibian President Geingob Optimistic About 2024, Citing Major Economic Projects

Windhoek, Namibia - President Hage Geingob of Namibia has conveyed a sense of optimism for the year 2024, which he has labeled as the "year of expectations." This comes following his reflection on the successes of 2023, termed the "Year of Revival."

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), In his New Year statement on Sunday, President Geingob highlighted that the progress made in 2023 is expected to continue into 2024, with several significant economic projects on the horizon. He specifically mentioned the anticipated outcomes from intensive offshore oil drilling and the resumption of operations in several uranium mines. Additionally, he indicated that at least three green hydrogen pilot projects are expected to conclude their construction activities. Furthermore, the Walvis Bay container terminal concession is set to become effective, which is anticipated to boost investment and increase container traffic in this vital logistics corridor.

President Geingob emphasized the importance of collective effort and hard work among Namibians for the nation's welfare. He encouraged citizens to embrace the new year's opportunities and align their efforts with the country's ambitions and expectations. His call to action is for every individual to contribute towards making Namibia a better country.

Despite the challenges faced during his administration, including successive droughts, the global economic downturn, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Geingob expressed confidence that he would leave Namibia in a better state. His term as President of Namibia is set to conclude in March 2025.
