Namibian Golfer Kasoma Paulino Aspires to Olympic and PGA Glory

WINDHOEK: Professional golfer Kasoma Paulino has expressed his ambition to represent Namibia at the Olympics and to compete in the PGA Tour.

According to Namibia Press Agency (Nampa), In an interview with a news agency, Paulino, a 25-year-old golfer who recently clinched the runner-up spot at the 2023 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open in October, revealed his aspirations for an Olympic berth and participation in the prestigious PGA Tour. Having honed his skills in the United States on a golfing scholarship, he credits his time abroad for his personal and professional growth.

Paulino, who began playing golf at the age of nine, has transformed his childhood interest into a professional career, now holding degrees in business management and law. Despite his academic achievements, his ultimate pursuit remains in golf. His performance in various U.S. competitions has set the stage for his future ambitions, which include competing in the Sunshine Tour, the premier men’s professional golf tour in Southern and East Africa, in 2024.

The golfer plans to relocate to South Africa to level up his game by playing alongside more experienced golfers. Beyond his personal goals, Paulino dreams of a future where more young Namibians embrace golf, despite the sport’s high costs.
