Namibian Cyclist Alex Miller Set to Represent Nation at Paris 2024 Olympics


WINDHOEK – Alex Miller, a prominent figure in both road cycling and mountain biking in Namibia, is set to don the national colors once again at the Paris 2024 Olympics, representing his country in the Men’s Cross-Country event.



According to Namibia Press Agency, who previously competed in the Tokyo Olympics, finishing 31st in the Mountain Bike event, expressed immense pride in representing Namibia for a second time on such a significant stage. As the 2019 Africa Games Cross-Country silver medalist and the 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, Miller brings substantial international experience to the upcoming Olympics scheduled from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Namibia will be sending a total of four athletes to compete in various disciplines including cycling, swimming, and marathon running.



Miller emphasized the symbolic and competitive significance of the Olympic Games, describing it as the pinnacle of sports achievement. He shared his preparation strategy, noting his recent return from Europe to Namibia to intensify his training regimen ahead of the competition. His approach involves assessing competitors and strategizing accordingly while embracing the privilege and challenge of Olympic competition.



The cyclist also highlighted the supportive role of the local community and sponsors in fostering cycling as a sport in Namibia, acknowledging their efforts in organizing races that provide competitive opportunities for cyclists like himself.
