Windhoek – A delegation from the Zambian Parliament is in Namibia for a seven-day visit to discuss and exchange insights on managing parliamentary privileges and discipline, highlighting the strong bilateral relations between the two Southern African Development Community (SADC) nations.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the leader of the delegation and First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, the visit aims to deepen understanding and share effective practices concerning the privileges and discipline of parliamentary members. The Zambian delegation, which consists of members from the Committee on Privileges and Absences, was welcomed by Lukas Sinimbo Muha, the Chairperson of the National Council, in Windhoek. Chisangano emphasized that the visit underscores the robust parliamentary relationship fostered by previous exchanges and benchmarking visits between the two countries.

On his part, Muha remarked that the visit marks a significant milestone in furthering the operational efficiency, transparency, and accountability of Namibia’s parliamentary processes. He noted that the committees on privileges play a crucial role in ensuring that Members of Parliament can perform their duties effectively, without undue interference, and with adequate support to represent their constituents.

Throughout their stay, the Zambian lawmakers will engage with their Namibian counterparts in various discussions, participate in sessions, and observe the legislative process in action, which is expected to enhance the governance capabilities of both parliaments.
