Namibia Tourism Board Expands Reach in Indian Ocean Islands Market

WINDHOEK: The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) successfully conducted a Business-to-business (B2B) networking session on Wednesday, with participation from over 50 tourism industry partners hailing from the Indian Ocean Islands. This session was a strategic move to bolster Namibia’s position as a prime tourism destination.

According to NAMPA, engaging with stakeholders is vital for enhancing destination promotion and creating a tourism experience that meets the highest standards across the industry. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts and the need to diversify the tourist pool, aligning the board’s strategies with sustainable tourism practices as outlined in the national policy and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s sustainable development goals.

During the same event, Menon Ramasamy, Lead Regional Sales Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Production Manager, spoke on the benefits of the networking session. He highlighted how it allows tourism partners to better understand and subsequently package Namibia as a destination, ensuring a comprehensive experience for potential tourists. “Having spent the past few days experiencing Namibia firsthand, it’s clear that a minimum of 15 days is required to truly appreciate its landscapes and the numerous business opportunities it presents. It’s crucial to offer a holistic destination package to tourists,” he explained.

A total of 17 Namibian tourism stakeholders took part in the session, actively showcasing what Namibia has to offer as a destination.
