Namibia Statistics Agency to Begin Final Phase of Population Census Reconciliation

WINDHOEK: The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) has announced the commencement of the reconciliation operation, marking the final phase of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

According to Namibia Press Agency, which follows the post-enumeration survey (PES) conducted last year, is set to begin on February 1 and will continue until February 14, 2024.

The reconciliation operation is a critical step in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of census data. It involves NSA officials revisiting households to resolve discrepancies between the Census and PES data. This operation, essential for guaranteeing the quality of the census results, will be conducted across the country but limited to constituencies and enumeration areas selected for the PES.

To execute this operation, NSA will deploy a team of 364 staff members from all 14 regions of Namibia. These staff members, selected from those who performed best during the PES data collection, will receive training on January 29 and 30, 2024. Notably, they will not work within the same enumeration areas or with the same households as in the previous phase. The operation will also require 115 vehicles to facilitate the nationwide process.
