WINDHOEK – The fourth validation workshop for Namibia’s National Digital Strategy for the years 2024 to 2028 began in Windhoek on Wednesday. The strategy aims to guide the country’s transformation into a digitally literate, innovative, and inclusive society.
According to The Namibia Press Agency, During the workshop, Audrin Mathe, the Executive Director of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, emphasized the critical role of governance and strategic foresight in the digital realm for Namibia’s development. He expressed gratitude to the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Impact Tank for their collaboration on the strategy. Neil Swanepoel, the Project Manager at Impact Tank, elaborated on the importance of digital infrastructure, such as fiber optic cables and satellites, for providing fast internet access. The workshop aimed to gather insights to ensure the strategy is realistic and achievable. The strategy, still in draft form, will incorporate feedback from the workshop before submission to MICT for ministerial and cabinet approval. Previous workshops were held between September and October in 2023.
