Windhoek: The Namibia Youth Energy Forum on Tuesday launched its two-day workshop under its initiative, Namibia Energy Connect, bringing together young people, industry experts, and organisations in the country's growing energy sector.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the event, held in Windhoek, aims to create dialogue and collaboration between Namibia's youth and key players in the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors, as stated by Fanuel Shinedima, founder of the Namibia Youth Energy Forum. "Namibia Energy Connect is a platform that brings the entire energy industry into one room, with the aim of empowering youth," he said.

On Tuesday, participants took part in masterclasses led by corporate and government partners, including TotalEnergies, Bank BIC, and the Upstream Petroleum Unit in the Office of the President, offering practical insights and career guidance. An exhibition ran throughout the day, providing information on the country's energy landscape.

Shinedima told Nampa in an interview that day two will include panel discussions, networking sessions, and the Energy Trailblazer Awards, recognising individuals and organisations contributing to Namibia's energy sector. Dorianne Zammit Cutajar, Business Manager for Africa and the Mediterranean at Atlas Nextwave, said in an interview that they have engaged young people through the Green Hand Programme, which provided upskilling sessions in Walvis Bay, Windhoek, and Lderitz last month.

"What is happening here today is a great opportunity. I encourage all the youths to take interest in what's going on in the country because it benefits both themselves and their careers, but also the country itself," she said. Over 100 participants attended the event.
