Namibia Breweries Limited Launches ‘Take a Second’ Campaign for Responsible Alcohol Consumption

Windhoek - Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) announced its latest responsible consumption awareness campaign, 'Take a Second', on Monday, committing N.dollars 200,000 to support national road safety initiatives.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the campaign is a continuation of their efforts to promote responsible alcohol consumption. The company has also allocated an additional N.dollars 90,000 to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) for refreshments at roadblocks and to assist the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund's (MVA) road safety awareness programs.

NBL's Corporate Affairs Manager, Surihe Gaomas-Guchu, explained that 'Take a Second' is designed to effect positive changes in social attitudes towards alcohol and encourage responsibility within Namibian communities. The campaign particularly focuses on two key demographics: the energetic youth and more moderate consumers who drink alcohol socially.

This initiative builds on the success of NBL's 2021 'Be the One' campaign, which also celebrated responsible drinking choices. 'Take a Second' encourages individuals to pause and consider their decisions regarding alcohol consumption, thereby fostering more responsible behaviors.

NBL Managing Director, Peter Simons, emphasized that the campaign aligns with NBL's commitment to promoting moderation and balanced lifestyles. The brewery actively collaborates with various partners to address harmful drinking habits, including excessive consumption, drunk driving, drinking during pregnancy, and underage drinking.
