Mdantsane – Following alarming reports that three children in Mdantsane, South Africa, died after consuming Top Score instant porridge, Namib Mills CEO Christo Ellis, along with top company executives, has arrived in the area to oversee an urgent investigation into the incident.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian-based company's team is set to work closely with the local community to thoroughly understand the circumstances leading to the tragic events. Namib Mills’ Senior Brand Manager, Marne Bouwer, announced that the team would directly engage with those affected and supervise the ongoing independent probe. "The production batch in question has been identified and isolated," Bouwer said. "Samples have been sent to an independent, accredited third-party laboratory for comprehensive testing."

Bouwer also highlighted that results from the testing are expected within two weeks, though the company has requested an accelerated timeline to provide the public with information as swiftly as possible. She reassured that the incident appears to be isolated to a single household. Despite this, Namib Mills has taken extensive precautionary measures, including the temporary withdrawal of Top Score Instant Porridge from markets in South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, and Lesotho while the investigation continues.

"Although this is an isolated incident, we remain fully committed to cooperating with all relevant authorities to establish the facts and provide full transparency," Bouwer added.
