Namentenga: The High Commissioner of the province of Namentenga, Adama Conseiga, who also serves as the provincial supervisor of USSU-BF/Namentenga, inaugurated the 2025-2026 season of the Burkina Faso School and University Sports Union (USSU-BF) competitions on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Boulsa. The opening match saw the provincial high school team clinch a win against the Jan Vervoort vocational high school team, with a decisive score of one goal to zero.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the public and private institutions within Boulsa municipality are participating in multiple disciplines, including football, handball, volleyball, athletics, and wrestling, aiming to achieve top prizes at provincial and regional levels.
The provincial director of Sports and Recreation, Pengdwende Joseph Sawadogo, mentioned that the competition schedule was created in collaboration with sports coaches from the participating schools.
During the event's opening, Adama Conseiga acknowledged the efforts of Sibiri Abdoulaye Yarbanga, the provincial director of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training, the sports coaches, and their teams for their dedication to representing the province and nurturing future talents.
The High Commissioner expressed his desire for the sporting events to be marked by fair play and patriotism, urging participants to strive for maximum success in the regional competitions.
The range of competitions includes individual sports such as athletics, featuring high jump and long jump, and team sports like football, handball, basketball, volleyball, and African wrestling, catering to both girls and boys across U15, U17, and U20 categories.
In the last edition, the province achieved notable success, securing 43 out of 50 regional prizes. This included 11 first places and two second places in team sports, 13 first places and 11 second places in individual sports, and five first places and one second place in African wrestling.
