Namentenga: The High Commissioner of the province of Namentenga, Adama Conseiga, invited the active forces on Friday, to taste local dishes as part of the National Patriotic Days and Citizen Commitments (JEPPC) for the promotion and enhancement of local dishes. About ten foods made from non-timber forest products, small millet, cowpea, corn flour, earth weights, ginger juice, zoom koom, bisap, and shea butter were among the local dishes offered by the High Commissioner to his guests.
According to Burkina Information Agency, everyone helped themselves to whatever they liked and appreciated the local dish at its true value. “These foods bring us more health than our imported foods,” acknowledged the province’s Secretary General, Bassouleymane Ouattara. “They are good and appetizing, but preparing these local dishes requires expertise,” confided the protocol of the province’s High Commissioner, Wendlassida Germain Sandouidi.
The tasting took place in a friendly atmosphere. The High Commissioner expressed his satisfaction with the atmosphere surrounding the meal and invited participants to promote and showcase local dishes. Everything, according to the province’s top official, will contribute to the journey towards true food sovereignty.
“I wish you a successful continuation of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation and invite you to consume what we produce,” concluded the High Commissioner, Adama Conseiga.
