BOULSA—Adama Conseiga, the High Commissioner of Namentenga Province, presided over a meeting on Thursday, August 22, 2024, in Boulsa, focused on revitalizing public services in areas where populations have been resettled. The discussions involved various stakeholders, including commanders of the Guépard and Fantôme units, Presidents of Special Delegations (PDS), and local educators.
According to Burkina Information Agency, High Commissioner Conseiga urged participants to collaborate closely with local military forces as a strategy to minimize risks. The provincial heads of education provided updates on the operational status of schools during the previous academic year, detailing reopened classes, recorded outcomes, and challenges faced.
As the 2024-2025 school year approaches, accessibility in certain high-risk areas and the availability of students for redeploying staff were central topics of discussion. High Commissioner Conseiga ordered that classrooms currently occupied for other purposes be vacated to allow for an accurate assessment of student numbers in each locality ahead of the school year's start.
Conseiga expressed satisfaction with the discussions and committed to ongoing dialogues with development partners in the communes of Bouroum, Nagbingou, Tougouri, and Yalgo in the coming days. Participants in the meeting also emphasized the importance of the effective return of populations to recovered areas to facilitate the reopening of schools and ensure their humanitarian needs are met.
The prefects and Presidents of Special Delegations pledged to return to their respective areas of responsibility by September 15.
