Namentenga Prepares for Potential Disasters with ORSEC Plan

BOULSA — The high commissioner of the province of Namentenga, Adama Conseiga, led a meeting in Boulsa on Friday to review and develop an emergency relief plan, known as the Relief Organization plan (ORSEC), to respond effectively to potential disasters.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session focused on assessing resources and strategies to assist those affected by any future disaster or catastrophe. Participants discussed enhancing the training and equipment of first responders and improving road infrastructure. They also advocated for adopting better hygiene and sanitation practices among the local population. Additionally, the meeting recommended that the provincial directorate in charge of Social Action should map flood zones, probable shelter sites for disaster victims, and assess the condition of food and non-food storage facilities. This initiative follows a recent violent wind event in Boulsa on May 28, which resulted in five fatalities, numerous injuries, and extensive material damage.
