Namentenga Marks 6th National Tree Day with 125 New Plantings

BOULSA, Namentenga — The provincial authorities of Namentenga commemorated the 6th National Tree Day by planting 125 plants at the Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) in Boulsa, under the leadership of High Commissioner Adama Conseiga.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Abdoulaye Ouédraogo, the event took place on Saturday at the DPEPPNF premises. Nine different species of plants were planted and protected with grids by the organizations present. Additionally, another 100 plants were distributed to civil society organizations and public services, each accompanied by fencing to ensure their survival and growth.

During the planting ceremony, Ouédraogo explained the critical nature of this initiative, stating that the extreme heat experienced this year had adversely affected the production of non-woody forest species, making tree planting essential for environmental sustainability and the well-being of future generations.

High Commissioner Conseiga emphasized the importance of community involvement in environmental preservation, advocating for initiatives such as “a school, a grove,” and “I regreen my place of worship.” He also encouraged the local population to support the greening of spaces around monuments, asserting that these efforts are vital for reaching the province’s environmental goals.
