Namentenga: Livestock Sellers Deplore the Gloomy Market

Namentenga: Twenty-four hours before the Tabaski festival, business is not going as well as the sheep sellers at the Boulsa livestock market would have liked. “The supply of sheep is large, but unfortunately, customers are rare,” laments one of the ram sellers, Jean Louis Ima.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Jean Louis Ima, a teacher by profession, came to sell the animals he had fattened. He expressed that the market is not good and the prices customers are offering are below expectations. Normally, the ram he is offering at 125,000 FCFA would be bought for 175,000 or 200,000 FCFA.

He explained that the situation is linked to the fact that buyers no longer come from Pouytenga, Fada, and Zorgho. “The buyers of the moment are local buyers. We invite major buyers to make Boulsa their preferred business destination,” Mr. Ima said.

Felix Nassa, another customer, is negotiating the price of a ram he wants to fatten. “We haven’t agreed on the price yet. He’s offering me 150,000 CFA francs, but I only have 120,000 CFA francs,” he said.
