Namentenga Celebrates Successful International Youth Day Activities

BOULSA, NAMENTENGA — The International Youth Day (IYD) activities held on August 12 and 13, 2024, in Boulsa, Namentenga, concluded with positive reviews from local organizers and participants. The event focused on "Citizen monitoring and the fight against insecurity in Burkina Faso" and involved discussions on social cohesion, family life education, and entrepreneurship.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial director of youth, vocational training and employment, who chaired the review meeting on Thursday, August 29, 2024, the success of the event was significantly aided by the support of the high commissioner, Adama Conseiga, and various development partners. The activities facilitated during the two-day event included sessions led by notable local figures such as the commander of the "Guépard" unit and Moussa Ilboudo, the provincial director of sports and leisure.

The youth took an active role in community building, planting a hundred seedlings at a new center under construction in Boulsa. The event also featured a night dedicated to aerobics activities, further engaging the attendees.

Wendyam Lucien Ima and Jean Paul Sawadogo, presidents of the provincial youth council and the commune of Boulsa, respectively, praised the execution of the IYD program. However, they noted the challenges of low participation from youths in high-security areas and the overlap of the event with other local competitions.

The leaders expressed gratitude to all partners and participants for their contributions and called for increased patriotism, dynamism, and a commitment to peace among the youth. Batiéno echoed these sentiments and expressed optimism that the discussions and activities of the IYD would inspire desired changes in social cohesion and patriotic engagement among the youth and the broader community.
