Namentenga: A ceremony was held on March 10, 2026, in Ouagadougou to award certificates of completion to 15 young people from the Yalgo district who had been trained in operating heavy machinery in the mining and public works sectors. The ceremony was presided over by the Prefect, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Yalgo, Mahamadi Ouar.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the goal is to bring skills that have been undervalued but readily available to the job market. Mahamadi Ouar, president of the Yalgo special delegation, noted that the lack of qualifications is currently a major obstacle to the socio-professional integration of young people in certain sectors.
Mr. Ouar explained that, aware of the risks associated with idleness, the municipality of Yalgo decided, using its own funds, to train these young people in the techniques of driving heavy machinery.
The PDS congratulated the young people on their success and thanked the ABONGRO center for the quality of the training. It also assured them of its support, to the best of its ability, to foster their full professional development.
For 30 days, the beneficiaries underwent intensive training at the ABONGRO vocational training center in Ouagadougou. "The awarding of certificates recognizes their success and the acquisition of practical skills in the mining and construction sectors," he stated.
The spokesperson for the young beneficiaries, Madi Yamogo, thanked the special delegation for this initiative and expressed their hope of finding professional opportunities to utilize their new skills.
He also appealed to employers to give them the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice.
As a reminder, the commune of Yalgo is home to the first industrial gold mining operation in Burkina Faso, a sector in which these young people could potentially make use of their recently acquired skills.
