Windhoek: The Namibia College of Open Learning (Namcol) has encouraged working Namibians and out-of-school youth to take advantage of flexible learning opportunities that allow them to continue their education while managing work and family responsibilities. Speaking during an information-sharing session at the Government Information Centre on Thursday, Namcol Chief Executive Officer Ngepathimo Kadhila emphasized the benefits of the institution's open and distance learning model, which enables learners to study without attending daily classes. According to Namibia Press Agency, Kadhila highlighted that the flexible learning system allows individuals to study from wherever they are while balancing employment, business activities, and family commitments. He noted, "Learners can study at their own pace and in their own environment, whether they are working or managing other responsibilities." This learning model creates opportunities for adults who wish to improve their qualifications but are unable to return t o full-time schooling. Namcol Marketing Manager Rholene Bock explained that learners enrolled through the institution receive structured study materials aligned with the national curriculum and complete assignments during the academic year to support their learning. Bock emphasized that the college provides support through orientation workshops, online learning platforms, and communication channels where learners can interact with tutors and fellow students. "Distance learning offers flexibility, but learners must remain committed and disciplined in order to succeed," she stated. Kadhila acknowledged the challenges of balancing studies with work and family responsibilities but encouraged learners to manage their time effectively and make use of the support systems provided by the institution.
