Nahouri/Sport: The AMGN Commander’s Cup Launched

Nahouri: The commander of the Georges Namoano Military Academy (AMGN) in Pô, Battalion Chief William Baguéra, launched the Academy Commander’s Inter-Commune Cup this Thursday, May 29, 2025. For three days, teams from the province’s five communes, two teams from Zoundwéogo, and a team from the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), will compete around the game of football.

According to Burkina Information Agency, as part of the official graduation of the 24th class of active officer cadets from the Georges Namoano Military Academy in Pô, several social activities are being organized to honor the young officer cadets, including an inter-commune Maracana football tournament called the AMGN Commander’s Cup, this Thursday, May 29, 2025.

For three days, seven civilian teams from the five municipalities of the province, two teams from Zoundwéogo, and one team from the FDS, will compete to win the trophy of this first edition of the AMGN Commander’s Cup.

According to the commander of the Georges Namoano Military Acade
my (AMGN) in Pô, Battalion Chief William Baguéra, this tournament aims to break down barriers between the population and the FDS.

For this first opening match, the FDS team drew one goal each against the Tiébélé team.

The final is scheduled for May 31, 2025, at the Municipal Stadium of Po.
