Nahouri: The central police station of the national police and the municipal police of Po conducted a joint traffic control operation in the city on Thursday, August 14, 2025. The initiative, which is part of the fight against incivility and the restoration of public order, resulted in the recording of 141 offenses.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the report drawn up at the end of the operations on Thursday, August 14, 2025, by the central commissioner of the city of P´, indicated that 130 motorcycles, 10 tricycles, and 1 vehicle were seized. Offenders, identified for various offenses ranging from non-compliance with traffic lights to overloading vehicles, will be punished with Community Service (CWS) with a corrective and educational scope.
These outings, which are part of the strengthening of road safety actions and awareness-raising among road users, have further revealed the persistence of incivility on the roads in our cities. “It is manifested by numerous situations of non-compliance with the highway code despite various initiatives to counter the phenomenon,” stressed the central commissioner of the city of P´.
For him, the restoration of order and discipline, in accordance with the theme of the 2nd edition of the national days of patriotic commitment and citizen participation, each Burkinab¨ must set a good example on a daily basis to support the dynamic initiated by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©.
The offenders cleared the Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA), the High Commission, N©maro Square, and the P´ town hall, under police supervision. Rebecca Sia, who was arrested for failing to comply with traffic lights, welcomed the measure and urged other road users to respect the rules to avoid disorder and incivility.
The central commissioner warned that in the future, offenders will face longer community service periods of up to one week. The president of the special delegation of the commune of P´, Ilassa Dianda, who was alongside the police, welcomed this initiative which will instill values of civic-mindedness and citizenship among the population.
At the end of the work, the offenders acknowledged their wrongdoing and committed to not repeating the offense and to acting as intermediaries among the population to raise awareness. Satisfied, the city’s police officials reaffirmed their firm commitment to combating this phenomenon and called on citizens to demonstrate civic-mindedness and responsibility on the roads.
