Nahouri/Raising of the Colors: Public Servants Urged to Demonstrate Selflessness, Rigor, and Dedication

Nahouri: The leading figures of the Ziou commune, located about sixty kilometers from P´, marked the beginning of the year on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with a flag-raising ceremony, under the banner of patriotism and unity. Presided over by Salam Marane, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the Ziou commune, the ceremony called upon public employees to demonstrate dedication, rigor, and selflessness.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the first national flag-raising ceremony in the municipality of Ziou took place on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Ziou Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade. Salam Marane, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the municipality of Ziou, emphasized that the ceremony was a symbol of patriotism and unity.

Addressing the assembled community leaders, the PDS reiterated that this act was far more than a mere formality. "By watching our flag fly atop this flagpole, we reaffirm our belonging to the same Nation and our unwavering commitment to the values of sovereignty and unity," he stressed.

Mr. Marane emphasized the responsibility of public servants and urged them to demonstrate dedication and rigor, to cultivate a spirit of selflessness, and to work in synergy with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for the stability of the municipality.

The municipal authority also invited the sons and daughters of Ziou to embrace the "Deme Sira" (Solidarity in Action) campaign. Salam Marane concluded by indicating that donations (in kind and/or cash) are being collected at the Ziou town hall secretariat every weekday until January 30, 2026.

"I call upon each of you to work together so that Ziou's surge of solidarity becomes an example for the entire nation," urged the PDS.
