Nahouri: The third edition of the Maracana inter-service cup organized by the High Commissioner of the province of Nahouri concluded with a thrilling final match, marking the triumph of the Water and Forestry team. They emerged victorious against the military team in a tightly contested penalty shootout, securing their win with a score of 1-0. According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the theme "Promoting Social Cohesion and Fraternity Among Public and Private Sector Workers." This year's competition saw participation from six teams representing the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and six civilian teams, all engaging in friendly competition through football and board games. Dr. Valentin Bouda, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Basic Education, and Narcisse Sia, CEO of Confiance Service and President of the Nazinon Construction and Public Works Contractors Association, served as the patron and sponsor, respectively. They lauded the initiative for its role in fostering interaction, e ntertainment, and unity among public and private sector workers, as well as the larger community of Nahouri Province. The two leaders encouraged the youth to embrace values such as social cohesion and community spirit, emphasizing their importance in supporting presidential candidates and building a sustainable future for Burkina Faso. The victorious Water and Forestry team was awarded a trophy, 100,000 CFA francs, a ball, a set of jerseys, and medals. The military team, as runners-up, received 75,000 CFA francs, along with a ball, a set of jerseys, and medals. Other participating teams were also recognized with prizes in both cash and kind. Sié Aristide Mohamed Kam, the High Commissioner of Nahouri Province and organizer of the tournament, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm and support demonstrated by public and private services, as well as the local populace, throughout the event. He highlighted the importance of sports as a means of teaching life skills such as discipline, respect for rules, a nd community spirit, while also bringing enjoyment and unity to the region.
