Nahouri Entrepreneurship Milestone: 9 Women Weavers Receive Final Training Certificates

Nahouri: The High Commissioner of the province of Nahouri, Si© Aristide Mohamed Kam, presided over the official exit of the first promotion of Kampala’s 9 women weavers from the ‘Le-Ma’ cooperative in the commune of P´, located about twenty kilometers east of the city of P´. The ceremony, held this Saturday, May 3, 2025, concluded with the presentation of certificates to the graduates.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the learners’ representative, Monique Goumoudongo, expressed her gratitude to the promoter, Delphine Bayabou, who dedicated three years to imparting knowledge in traditional loincloth weaving and kokodonda loincloth manufacturing. Bayabou emphasized that this official release marks a commitment to transmitting cultural values to the younger generation and promoting traditional textiles as desired by the country’s authorities.



Bayabou called on the new graduates to be exemplary in their enterprises. Despite the cooperative’s challenges, such as the lack of an ideal training environment since the current location is under trees, she remains optimistic about the future.



The provincial director in charge of Culture of Nahouri, Hermann Ou©draogo, praised the initiative. He highlighted that the skills acquired would enable the graduates to establish their own weaving businesses, which would support their livelihoods and combat poverty.



Sponsor Th©ophile Ouedraogo commended the trainees for their commitment over the three years, acknowledging their role in preserving cultural heritage. He noted that their training symbolizes empowerment and collective pride, especially during this month dedicated to cultural heritage promotion.



High Commissioner Si© Aristide Mohamed Kam acknowledged the trainees as ambassadors of traditional knowledge, tying it to the social and solidarity economy and cultural identity preservation. The ceremony saw attendance from various supporters of the promoter’s vision, with prayers offered for the Transitional authorities and national defense forces.
