Nahouri/Burkina Faso Heritage Month: A Hundred Students Discover the Province’s Potential

Nahouri: About a hundred students from several universities in Ouagadougou, on May 17 and 18, 2025, undertook a tourist excursion in the province of Nahouri, visiting the royal court of Ti©b©l©, Nahouri Peak, and the Burkina Faso-Ghana border. This event was part of the Burkinabe Heritage Month celebrations, showcasing the cultural richness and historical significance of the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the excursion drew students specializing in fields such as economics, law, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and computer science from institutions including Thomas Sankara University, Joseph Ki Zerbo University, Aube Nouvelle, and the Institute of Economics and Management Sciences (ISEG). The initiative aimed to deepen the students' understanding of Burkinabe identity and promote domestic tourism.

During their visit to the royal court of Ti©b©l©, participants explored the distinctive architecture of the kassena huts, learning about the symbolic messages and traditional significance of the court's artifacts. The first day concluded with a relaxing evening in the town of P´.

On the second day, the students engaged in physical activities, including climbing to the summit of Nahouri Peak, and concluded their excursion with a visit to the Burkina Faso-Ghana border. The trip fostered a sense of camaraderie and cultural pride among the students.

Renaud Di© Millogo, the general delegate of the university city of Thomas Sankara University, expressed satisfaction with the excursion, stating that it not only provided relaxation but also imparted values foundational to Burkinabe society. Roxane Aida Tapsoba from ISEG highlighted the educational impact of the trip, emphasizing the importance of promoting Burkinabe culture beyond national borders.

The excursion was part of the 3rd edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month, celebrated from April 18 to May 18, 2025, under the theme "Cultural Heritage and Economic Development." The event aimed to highlight the cultural heritage of Burkina Faso and its role in socioeconomic development. The students' exploration of Nahouri was supported by the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT), the General Directorate of Customs, the Minister of Culture, and the National Center for University Works (CENOU).
